Manga Monday: Gan-Kon/My Wife Is Beautiful God by Sugawara Kenji

This week I’m covering a Romantic Comedy series that I genuinely enjoy. It’s Gan-Kon or My Wife Is Beautiful God by Sugawara Kenji.

Plot Synopsis: Tagamori Shinta is a student who routinely confesses with complete sincerity to any girls that he likes, failing every time with good reason. One day, after another failed attempt, he stumbles upon a strange shrine and ends up making the most important wish of his entire life. A romantic comedy packed with action on a celestial scale.

Plot: The plot is pretty great, even if it’s a Romantic Comedy it doesn’t have all the usual issues of the main character not liking the obvious love interest. That said the series does become a battle series almost immediately, but even than it’s still pretty good.

Characters: Shinta is pretty funny, and Isana is also fairly amazing. The rest of the cast is funny as well.

Artwork: The art is typical Shonen fare, but don’t let that stop you from reading this series.

Overall: If you like a romance with plenty of action and comedy read this.

For those who like: Romance, Comedy, Action, Battles.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
