This week for Shoujo Saturday I’m covering Kurenai Ouji, or Crimson Prince, by Kuwahara Souta.
Plot Synopsis: Is their meeting a coincidence? Is their love inevitable? Sakura Koujirou is a demon prince who descends to the human world in order to take human souls. But after a strange turn of events, he somehow ends up living with a human girl, Hana… This is a story of young love, sweet and touching.
Plot: The plot of this series is actually pretty great, and while I’m not usually one for Romance stories, I really do like this series. As it’s not finished I’m curious as to what the author is planning on doing to end this series. Expect plenty of Drama, although not that much teenage angst, really there is almost none.
Characters: Hana is a sweet girl and an excellent main female lead, as while her life is absolute crap, she still somehow manages to smile while hiding her inner conflicts really well. Unraveling those inner conflicts is a fairly great plot device on the author’s part. Koujirou is a fairly great main character, and while he struggles with the conflict between fulfilling his duty to the demon world, and his own desires, it’s not overdone in a way that makes me hate him. The rest of the cast is also fairly interesting, but I won’t go into them because it’s quite spoilerriffic.
Art: The art for this series is amazing, and I really enjoy it. It’s just nice and relaxing to look at.
Overall: This series is an excellent story about love and duty.
For those who like: Romance, Drama, A bit of Fantasy, Great Art, Amazing Characters, Fantastic Plot.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
