Anime Sunday: Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan

This week for Anime Sunday I’m covering a series that is mediocre. It’s Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan!

Plot Synopsis: Humanity was driven off the land by the threat of magical armored insects and now live in aerial floating cities. Its defenses lie in wizards who fight the insects with magic in mid-air. Kanata Age is a young man who lives on the floating wizard academy city of “Misutogan.” He was once celebrated as the “Black Master Swordsman,” the elite ace of the S128 special team. However, he is now despised as the “traitor of the special team.”

Plot: I’ve seen this premise before, although it played out a tad bit differently and I hated the main character, something that I don’t do with this series. That being said it’s not very original, and isn’t super amazing. That being said if you wanna kill some time there are worse ways to spend it, like reading Game of Thrones.

Characters: Kanata is actually fairly interesting as a main character, he’s not overly arrogant despite being incredibly skilled. The rest of the cast is the real issue and they aren’t super original, with a narcissist and self deprecating apologist being a couple of the “highlights”. I guess the rest of the cast just gets on my nerves, and I had to stop watching this mess after the third episode.

Art: The art is pretty at least.

Music: Decent, but doesn’t hold a candle to the rest of the series this Season.

Overall: Unless you are really bored, or feel a sudden desire to read Game of Thrones and want to resist it, stay away from this.

For those who like: Action, Bland Plots, Annoying Cast of Characters, Drama.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
