Manga Monday: Hero Killer by Kase Daiki

This week for Manga Monday I’m covering another One-shot! It’s Hero Killer by Kase Daiki!

Plot Synopsis: The story of a young man’s revenge on the heroes that failed him.

Plot: The plot is pretty cliche, in fact it hits so many stereotypes that it’s really not worth the 15 minutes the average reader will need to completely finish the 50 pages of the One-shot. It’s not terrible, but it just doesn’t do anything new or interesting.

Characters: Shioso is our male lead, and he’s a pretty angsty. I actually don’t like him as a main character all that much, then there’s Hikaru our female lead. She’s a pretty standard female lead, which is also fairly disappointing. Even Go is pretty boring in terms of character. Now I understand that this is a One-shot, and that character development is non-existent, but it’s so stereotypical that I can’t help but criticize it.

Art: The art is at least great, but given that this was a One-shot published in the semi-quarterly Jump magazine by Shueisha it’s not too surprising.

Overall: Skippable, unless you really are bored and need to waste 15 minutes of your life.

For those who like: Stereotypes, Action, Anti-Heroes, Great Art.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, or just plain bland plot and characters.

  1. It’s not really the ‘heroes’ that failed him, the ‘heroes’ killed his dad you know, if you actually read the one shot, I could read a few more chapters of this
