Anime Sunday: Most Anticipated Winter 2020 Anime

Hey all this week I’m back with a look at what I’m most looking forward to for this season of Anime. It’s my Most Anticipated Winter 2020 Anime!

Bofuri: The title for this series is ridiculously long, but I read the first volume of the original Light Novel and found it to be utterly freaking hilarious. This is probably what I’m looking forward to the most, even if it seems like it’ll have competition for the VRMMO genre.

Infinite Dendogram: The said competition, I have yet to read the original Light Novels, so I’ll probably give this an episode to impress me. Then I’ll probably read the novels when I get the chance, in like six months.

Breakers: This is a Sports series, which isn’t usually my thing, however this series covers Para-athletes, those athletes who have a disability. So I’m definitely going to give this a watch

Honorable Mentions:

Plunderer: I’m not usually one for the heavy fan service sort of shows, but the premise behind this one is interesting so I’ll be giving it a chance.

Fate/Grand Order Bablyonia: This continues the series that started in the previous season, but I’m secretly hoping that the rumors I’ve heard that they’ll be doing the “missing” episodes on the Temple of Time will be true. For those who are wondering what I mean by “Missing” is the fact that the series is only going to run for 21 episodes, which is 3 less than the typical 24 for a 2-cour series. However given how intertwined the stories of these two particular story arcs are in the Grand Order storyline people have been saying that it’s possible that those three will be used to wrap up the story of the first act of Grand Order. Given how absolutely epic the Temple of Time story is I’m really hoping to see it animated.

TNT: My Favorite Korean Novels

Hey all I’m back for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday with a topic that I get asked about somewhat often. It’s all about My Favorite Korean Novels that I’ve read thus far!

Legendary Moonlight Sculptor: One of the first LitRPGs I ever read, LMS is both a classic and a must read. Weed is a such an unusual main character for those who have never read a Korean novel before. It’s definitely a gateway novel that should be on any LitRPG novelist’s must-read list. It’s honestly a pity that the translations drop in quality severely after the first twenty volumes, but hopefully it’ll be fully translated in a few years with a decent quality. I don’t think that it’s going to happen, but one can always hope right?

Everybody Else is a Returnee: This is a nice twist on the Isekai genre, in that the main character Is literally the only person in the entire world not transported. Yu Il-Han is a fun lead character who is incredibly genre savvy, which is a nice change of pace from some of the dense idiot leads who are so often Isekai main characters. Even better is the fact that the entire series is fully translated into English.

Breakers: This series is a great take on the Tensei genre, with the main character again being very genre savvy. The fact that he has to scrounge his way to the top and isn’t completely overpowered from the start is also great. Sure he has knowledge about events, but he has to use his head to get out situations he finds himself in.

TNT: Breakers Arc 03 by Chwiryong

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the third arc in Shutra’s rise to fame. It’s Breakers Arc 03 by Chwiryong!

Plot Synopsis: Having discovered an abandoned Dwarven fortress and portal In-gong, who now inhabits the body of the Ninth Prince Shutra, along with his new half-sister Caitlin has now formally made an alliance with Caitlin and her older brother Chris.

Plot: This is another short arc, but again it’s very important to the rest of the story.

Characters: We really get introduced to the Fifth Princess, Felicia in this chapter. Otherwise there aren’t any new characters really.

Overall: Again a pretty important arc, even if it’s a bit shorter than I’d personally prefer, it’s still in the foundation portion of the story.

TNT: Breakers Arc 02 by Chwiryong

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the continued adventures of In-gong. It’s Breakers Arc 02 by Chwiryong!

Plot Synopsis: Having been transported into the world of his favorite game Knights Saga, In-gong is now the Ninth Prince and one of the children of the Demon King. But he had never played as Shutra before, because the only playable characters were Zephyr, the Second Demon Prince and Locke the Human Hero. Now armed with knowledge of the game he loved, he’s begun to change the story so he can prevent the massacre of all his new siblings by one of their own. The strongest and most powerful being after the Demon King, The Second Prince Zephyr… He only has a little over two years to change the world to prevent ending up a corpse.

Plot: This second arc is short, only a few chapters long, but it really sets up the rest of the series and builds off the first arc wonderfully. I won’t spoil what happens, but it’s the beginning of ripples that will affect the story Shutra knows that is suddenly his new reality.

Characters: We don’t really get introduced to any characters in this Arc, but that’s okay because we get more interaction between Shutra, Carack, Caitlin and Chris.

Overall: This is an excellent second arc, and although still a foundation arc, it’s not at all boring.

TNT: Breakers Arc 01 by Chwiryong

Hey all I’m back with the first set of chapters in a Korean Novel I just finished reading the other day for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s Breakers Arc 01 by Chwiryong!

Plot Synopsis: My name is Joo In-gong. The name that my parents gave me meant ‘protagonist’ of the world. As anyone can predict, I was constantly teased due to my name. In kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. If I went to university as planned then I would probably be laughed at there as well. So, at one point, I really hated my name. But not anymore. Now, I think slightly differently. Maybe being named Joo In-gong was a type of foreshadowing?

[Name: Shutra] [Age: 17] [Species: Gandharva] [Occupation: Protagonist] [Uniqueness: Prince, Conquest Knight] This shows my situation on the Assenbah Continent at a glance.

My name is Joo In-gong. A protagonist.

Plot: The plot is pretty great and is a mix of LitRPG with the Isekai/Tensei Genres.  It deals with In-gong being transported to a world that is almost exactly like a game he loved to play except that he isn’t the characters he played in that game, he’s the weakest side character in the entire game… So yea this was a great start to a series that is pretty freaking awesome. I read the entire series or book in just a few days and even better news is that it’s been fully translated. So you don’t need to wait for it to be completed, it already is.

Characters: In-gong or Shutra is our protagonist and he’s pretty much a weakling. However the rest of the cast we get introduced to in these opening chapters is just as amazing. Carack is just an awesome character, and Caitlin is probably one of my favorite characters in the entire series.

Overall: If you love the LitRPG genre or just like a great story, Breakers will be right up your alley. It’s a relatively short series with only 231 chapters, but since it’s been fully translated it’s a worthy trade off.

For those who like: LitRPGs, Action, Adventure, Drama, Politics, Romance, Excellent Plot, Fantastic Cast of Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, but how can you hate all that put together?
