Anime Sunday: Winners of Winter 2017

Hey all! This Anime Sunday I’m back with my pick of winners for the previous season of Anime, and yes this post has been highly delayed. Sorry about that, but circumstances and my decision to post on an every other day schedule for a while have only let me do a few Anime Sunday columns since I started posting again. Anyways it’s my Winners of Winter 2017!

Youjo Senki: This was a great show to watch and I highly enjoyed watching a villainous protagonist. Sure it might have been a tad too gory for my tastes, but it was a fun show to watch nonetheless.

Dragon Maid: This was an absolutely hilarious show, and I enjoyed watching it thoroughly. If you enjoy some off beat comedy, Dragon Maid was the highlight of the season in my opinion.

ACCA-13: This was a surprisingly fun show to watch, with plenty of political intrigue and drama. It’s art style was also pretty neat.

Honorable Mentions:

Tales of Zestiria the X: The second half of the Tales of Zestiria adaptation, I never got to watch it, but I’m happy ufotable was able to create something that took the story of both Zestiria and Berseria and wove them together.

Naruto Shippuden: This had it’s final episode in this season, and while the “sequel” has started with Boruto, it still deserves a mention.

Anime Sunday: Dragon Maid Episode 01 Impressions

This week for Anime Sunday I’m back with another new series from the Winter 2016 Season. It’s my Dragon Maid Episode 01 Impressions!

Plot Synopsis: One night, an office worker named Kobayashi comes across an injured dragon named Tohru who had come from another world. Wanting to repay Kobayashi’s hospitality, Tohru starts living with her as a maid…

Plot: This is a comedy series, so get ready for some hilarity. Some of it it is a bit weird, like Tohru’s frequent desire to “clean” clothes by using her mouth as a washing machine. Mostly things are more amusing though. If you are expecting anything serious from this series you will be disappointed.

Characters: Kobayashi is pretty hilarious, especially when she’s drunk. Tohru on the other hand is a riot to watch. We don’t get to meet much of the rest of the cast, but I’m assuming we’ll get to meet them as the series goes on.

Art: It’s good, but not super detailed. That being said given the nature of the series it really doesn’t call for such detail.

Overall: If you want a good laugh or two, Dragon Maid will not disappoint. If you want seriousness though, Dragon Maid will not be your cup of tea.

For those who like: Comedy, Slice of Life, Great Cast of Characters, Good Artwork.
