Movie Monday: The Emperor’s New Groove

Hey all I’m back with a movie I completely forgot was a Disney movie for this week’s Movie Monday. It’s The Emperor’s New Groove!

Plot: It’s a Disney Movie, so that means songs, dances and talking animals. All of which are the main character. However while this was originally going to be a typical Disney movie with a more serious plot, well as serious as Disney movie’s get that is. The two directors, Roger Allers and Mark Dindall eventually ended up disagreeing until Allers left and this became a much more lighthearted movie. Hence why I forgot this was a Disney movie. Regardless of all that, this is a fun movie and kids will enjoy it, adults will enjoy it as well, if only for the Defenestration.

Casting: David Spade is our main character, Kuzco and he does an awesome job at it, he portrays him perfectly with just the right amount of snark and sass you’d expect from such a character. The rest of the cast is pretty good as well, including Tom Jones as the “Theme Song Guy” which is actually the characters name.

Animation: This is still one of the cel drawing films, so the animation is pretty classic. That being said it didn’t have that many great special effects added into it as they were focused more on the character’s poses rather than special effects.

Music: It’s a Disney movie, enough said.

Overall: A fun movie, and I honestly can’t believe that I thought this wasn’t a Disney movie, I think I got confused with The Road to El Dorado, which released around a similar time.

For those who like: Comedy, Drama, David Spade, Fun Plot, Oddball Cast of Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.

Movie Monday: Life of Pi

This week for Movie Monday I’m covering a more recent movie I found to be quite interesting. It’s Life of Pi!

Plot: The plot is very interesting and while it’s nothing completely fantastical I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s an interesting take on the shipwreck survivor “genre”.

Casting: Pi and Richard Parker are the two main stars, and I enjoyed them quite a bit. Suraj Sharma does an excellent job at portraying Pi.

Cinematography: The special effects of this were quite excellent with Richard Parker being almost completely computer generated in most of the scenes.

Overall: A fun movie, that makes you question what belief is.

For those who like: Adventure, Fiction, Thought Provoking Stories, Great Story, Fantastic Casting, Excellent Special Effects.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.

Anime Sunday: Wolf Children

wolf_children

This week for Anime Sunday I’m covering a movie that I love and think is pretty awesome. It’s Wolf Children!

Plot Synopsis: While studying in College, female student Hana meets a mysterious young man. The two quickly fall in love. This is their story.

Plot: I’m not going to say much, other than that I loved the plot. It was incredibly well done and I was left very satisfied when the credits rolled. The reason I won’t say much is because the plot takes off very quickly, but I don’t like spoiling stories so I’m cutting this section short.

Characters: I particularly love the cast, although it is fairly small it’s so well developed that I didn’t care much about that. Favorite character would probably be Yuki, but I love all the characters.

Art: The art is amazing, but that’s no surprise since it’s done by the studio and director behind Summer Wars another of my favorite movies.

Music: The music fits this movie perfectly. It truly was that good.

Overall: This is a must see movie, it’s easily up there with any other movie I’ve seen and I’ve watched plenty.

For those who like: Drama, Romance, Coming of Age stories, Great Plot, Amazing Cast of Characters, Fantastic Artwork, Excellent Musical Score.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, but how can you hate all of that put together?

Anime Sunday: Summer Wars

summer_wars

This week for Anime Sunday I’m covering a movie! It’s time to enter the eternal battlefield of romance and cyber warfare with Summer Wars!

Plot: Kenji Koiso is a young student at Kuonji High School with a gift in mathematics and a part-time moderator in the massive computer-simulated virtual reality world OZ along with his friend Takashi Sakuma. Invited by fellow Kuonji student Natsuki Shinohara to participate in the 90th birthday of her great-grandmother Sakae Jinnouchi, Kenji travels with her to Sakae’s estate in Ueda.

Plot: The plot of this movie is great, and is easily one of my favorite movies of all time. It may be an Anime movie, but it made me laugh and cry which makes me confident in saying that it’s one of the better one’s you can see. I won’t go into the plot as it’s quite good.

Characters: The character’s in this movie are all wonderfully deep and awesome, although Kazuma is probably my favorite character. Natsuki and the rest of the cast though aren’t bad at all though and I loved the entire cast.

Artwork: Produced by Madhouse this is easily one of the best looking movie’s you’ll watch except for anything made by ufotable.

Music: The music is just as good as the Artwork.

Overall: If you want a great relaxing movie to watch with anyone, regardless of age, you’ll all enjoy it thoroughly.

For those who like: Great Stories, Amazing Artwork, Fantastic Music, Excellent Cast of Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
