TNT: Black Belly Miss Chapters 1-40 by North Night

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering a series with a really great female lead. It’s Genius Doctor: Black Belly Miss Chapters 1-40 by North Night!

Plot Synopsis: She was a peerless genius in the 24th Century – all she needed was a silver needle and she could practically bring anyone back from the dead. After an explosion, she crossed over into a strange world. However now everyone calls her “Miss.” The previous “Miss” before had no contractual spirit, was weak and incompetent, and even the fiancé comes over with a new love and bullies her?!?

Plot: This is a pretty awesome novel, if only because I really enjoy strong female lead characters who don’t take crap from anyone. That being said the story is actually pretty awesome and Jun Wo Xie being a badass is merely icing on the cake.

Characters: Jun Wo Xie is our female lead and while her ever present black cat is a constant companion we don’t really ever get to learn it’s name. Jun Wu Yao is a pretty interesting male lead, if only because he’s actually mysterious and let’s Wu Xie deal with things on her own instead of swooping in to take care of everything. That being said I do look forward to him showing how much of a badass he is.

Overall: A really solid story, this is a must read for anyone who enjoys truly strong female characters.

For those who like: Xuanhuan, Transmigration Stories, Action, Adventure, Political Intrigue, Badass Female Leads, Excellent Plot, Great Cast of Characters,

Anime Sunday: ACCA Episode 01 Impressions

acca

This week for Anime Sunday I’m covering another series from the Winter 2017 season. It’s my ACCA Episode 01 Impressions!

Plot Synopsis: The kingdom of Dowa is subdivided into 13 states, each one granted their own autonomy. These 13 states have many agencies that are controlled by the giant civilian organization known as ACCA. Jean Otus is the second-in-command of the ACCA inspection agency. They keep track of all the activities of ACCA across the kingdom, and keep data on each state’s ACCA office flowing toward the central office. One of Jean’s jobs is having business trips from the capital to the other districts to check on the situation and personnel there.

Plot: The plot is pretty good, I frankly wasn’t expecting it to be quite as good as it was. There isn’t any action, it’s all about politics and it was very interesting, especially given the current US president’s very obvious corrupt behavior.

Characters: Jean is a great main character, he plays by the book and is always calm and centered on performing his job. The rest of the cast was quite good too, but my favorite side character was Lilium one of the five highest ranked people in the country. He was very funny.

Art: The art is very stylized, but despite that it was very good. It’s not ufotable quality work, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Music: Very fitting for the series.

Overall: This is definitely a must watch series for politically minded people, if only because it’s very interesting to watch.

For those who like: Political Intrigue, Drama, Mystery, Great Plot, Fantastic Cast of Characters, Excellent Artwork, Awesome Music.

Bookish Wednesday: A Warrior’s Knowledge by Davis Ashura

a_warriors_knowledge

This week for Bookish Wednesday I’m covering the sequel to A Warrior’s Path! It’s A Warrior’s Knowledge by Davis Ashura!

Plot Synopsis: “The redemption of the fallen man is neither easy nor quick. It is fraught with hardship and loss, and those who seek to aid someone traveling this twisted path might do best to journey ahead and light the way.” (The Word and the Deed).

Rukh Shektan has lost everything: his home, his standing, and his future. He must journey with Jessira to reach her mountain home, the OutCaste city of Stronghold, before winter’s icy snow and winds bar all passages.

Plot: The plot of this book is pretty great and while there is some parts of the story that make me want to tear my hair out of disgust due to certain characters, that is very much intended by the author. I take that as a mark of a good story. I won’t spoil the book but it was very much a book I didn’t want to put down.

Characters: We get to meet more characters in this entry of the series, like Soon and Sine. Of all of them I have to admit that Sine, and Soon are probably my two favorites, Soon because of who he is and Sine because I love a snarky female character who takes no crap from anyone.

Overall: An excellent sequel that sets up the end of a series that’s turned out to be amazing. Definite must read for Fantasy lovers!

For those who like: Fantasy, Drama, Political Intrigue, Action, Adventure, Romance, Great Plot, Excellent Characters.

TNT: Transcending the Nine Heavens Chapters 81-120 by Fenglin Tianxia

transcending_the_nine_heavens

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering the third set of chapters in Chu Yangs quest! It’s Transcending the Nine Heavens Chapters 81-120 by Fenglin Tianxia!

Plot Synopsis: Having recovered the first fragment of the Nine Tribulations Sword, Chu Yang left his sect to travel to the neighboring nation of Iron Cloud on a mission from the Sect Leader. He encounters a doctor renowned throughout the Nine Heavens and quickly befriends him and his escorts. However on their first night they are ambushed by a team of elite troops from Iron Cloud sent by their crown prince in order to stop the doctor from making it to Iron Cloud. By using his past life’s knowledge he outwits the commander and takes him hostage while ensuring safe passage for himself, the doctor and the doctor’s escorts. Having  made it to Iron Cloud Capital Chu Yang decides to ingratiate himself into the political scene by setting up a shop of “Divine” weapons, where for his first customer he meets Gu Ding, a young scion who would become world famous in the future according to Chu Yang’s previous life before coming back to life as a 16 year old. He quickly becomes sworn brothers with Gu Ding and they decide to become the best in the world together. However a young woman comes to the shop as they are drinking together, in order to look at the merchandise.

Plot: These chapters really show the brilliance of the author and how he sets himself apart from most typical Xianxia, with how Chu Yang handles himself. I won’t spoil anything, but Chu Yang shows a really bad ass side of himself we only hints of in the past chapters.

Characters: We get some real treasures for the real great newcomers in this set of chapters, but they aren’t as great as characters introduced in the previous 80 chapters. That being said Cheng Zi An is probably my favorite of the newcomers. But Chu Yang is the real star still.

Overall: I keep saying this, but you really ought to try reading this series if you haven’t given a chance yet, these chapters showcase some of the best the author has to offer.

Manga Monday: Musketeer by Kim Joon-Hyung

musketeer

This week for Manga Monday I’m covering a Korean Manwha! It’s Musketeer by Kim Joon-Hyung!

Plot Synopsis: The King’s royal guards, comprised of warriors who possess the top skills in all the nations. People call them the “Musketeers”. If a Musketeer serves Korea’s king, they are revered and honored.

Plot: The plot starts off with an execution, and than get’s pretty much right into the action. The lead is Yi Soho, a swordsman on the way to the capitol in order to take the test to become a Musketeer, and while his reason’s for doing so are pretty mysterious at the moment I’m pretty darn intrigued. I’ll definitely be following this Manwha, hopefully it continues to be as awesome as it has.

Characters: Soho seems to be a pretty bad ass swordsman and I definitely enjoy it, the rest of the cast is interesting as well, but it’s rather small for right now.

Art: The art is awesome, something you don’t always see with Korean Manwha, but this seems to be an exception like The Breaker was.

Overall: If you enjoy a story filled with action and intrigue, Musketeer will be right up your alley.

For those who like: Action, Martial Arts, Political Intrigue, Excellent Plot, Fantastic Lead, Awesome Artwork.
