Synth Saturday: Constellations Chapters 21-30 by UnwelcomeStorm

This week for Synth Saturday I’m continuing Taylor and Sunny’s adventures. It’s Constellations Chapters 21-30 by UnwelcomeStorm!

Plot: This is a really fun set of chapters, and is pretty freaking hilarious. It’s probably the best set of chapters yet in the story and is completely insane in a very good way. The plot progresses very nicely and Taylor and Sunny get up to a bunch of shenanigans.

Characters: We get some more interactions between Lung and Taylor, which are always fun. The rest of the cast is equally as fun in this set of chapters.

Overall: A very fun set of chapters, and definitely worth reading.

Video Game Tuesday: Oddball Uses of Gaming Tech

Hey all I’m back with a fun Video Game Tuesday. It’s some Oddball Uses of Gaming Tech!

PlayStation 3s in Hospitals: These were networked PS3s used for their processing power, it was cheaper to buy these consoles than other PC hardware for hospitals. The only way I know about this is because my Dad sold technology to hospitals for his job and he remarked on it at dinner one night.

Simulating Fake Crowds: Yeah you’ve probably heard about this, or seen it on TV if you watch sports, but various TV providers are now using game engines to produce fake crowds for sporting events and other things due to COVID-19. It’s going about as well as you might expect, which is to say as well as a flaming trash can. Don’t look too close at the crowds, or you’ll notice how utterly fake they are.

That’s it for this week’s Video Game Tuesday. What are some of your favorite oddball uses of gaming tech? Post them in a comment down below.

Retro Game Friday: Killer7

This week for Retro Game Friday I’m back with a rather oddball game. It’s Killer7!

Plot: The plot is pretty complex and not at all kid friendly. That said this is a Suda51 game, so that is to be expected.

Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty poor, with it being an On The Rails shooter for the most part. Honestly I enjoyed the story more than the gameplay by a very large margin.

Art: Killer7 used Cel Shading extensively and while it’s aged pretty well since then, it still has aged.

Music: The music is pretty good, and fits the game well.

Overall: An okay game, but much better story. Honestly you might just want to watch a Let’s Play instead of actually playing this.

For those who like: Action, Drama, The Noir Genre.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.

Movie Monday: The Truman Show

This week for Movie Monday I’m back with a classic. It’s The Truman Show!

Plot: The plot is pretty deep, which may surprise some people who are expecting a comedy since Jim Carrey is the star of the movie. The basic premise is that a kid named Truman is the star of a TV show, except he doesn’t know that. Everything and everyone in his life is an actor and his entire “world” is a TV set. A very advanced TV set, but still fake. It’s honestly a pretty cool premise, if not a little creepy. The fact that there is a mental disorder named after this movie is highly telling.

Casting: Jim Carrey does an amazing job as Truman, honestly I think this is one of his most serious films in terms of tone and he pulls it off amazingly. The rest of the cast is just as good.

Cinematography: The special effects are amazing, and that’s all that need be said for a non Fantasy/Sci-Fi film.

Music: The music is pretty great as well.

Overall: A very interesting and thought provoking movie, and a must see.

For those who like: Thinking Hard, Drama.

Not for those who don’t like: Either of the above.

TNT: KamiOto Volume 03 by Roy

Hey all I’m back with the third entry in Ryouma’s adventures for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s KamiOto Volume 03 by Roy!

Plot: This continues Ryouma’s efforts at becoming self-sufficient and not relying on the Duke and his family as much. It’s a fun volume for the most part with Ryouma meeting his new employees and then going on a short adventure with his friend Elia.

Characters: We get some pretty interesting newcomers in this volume, though I think Leelin is my favorite. The rest of the cast is just as good as previous volumes.

Overall: A decent volume, but very light on action.
