Hey all this week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with a continuation of last week’s topic. It’s all about My Favorite Japanese Novels! Warning there will be some major spoilers for Arifureta and Mushoku Tensei this time around!
Hey all I’m back for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday with a topic that I get asked about somewhat often. It’s all about My Favorite Korean Novels that I’ve read thus far!
Legendary Moonlight Sculptor: One of the first LitRPGs I ever read, LMS is both a classic and a must read. Weed is a such an unusual main character for those who have never read a Korean novel before. It’s definitely a gateway novel that should be on any LitRPG novelist’s must-read list. It’s honestly a pity that the translations drop in quality severely after the first twenty volumes, but hopefully it’ll be fully translated in a few years with a decent quality. I don’t think that it’s going to happen, but one can always hope right?
Everybody Else is a Returnee: This is a nice twist on the Isekai genre, in that the main character Is literally the only person in the entire world not transported. Yu Il-Han is a fun lead character who is incredibly genre savvy, which is a nice change of pace from some of the dense idiot leads who are so often Isekai main characters. Even better is the fact that the entire series is fully translated into English.
Breakers: This series is a great take on the Tensei genre, with the main character again being very genre savvy. The fact that he has to scrounge his way to the top and isn’t completely overpowered from the start is also great. Sure he has knowledge about events, but he has to use his head to get out situations he finds himself in.
That’s it for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday!
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the first arc in another Isekai series. It’s House Magic Chapters 1-29 by Amaui Shiro!
Plot Synopsis: Living carefree at home is the greatest shortcut—- My house is the world’s greatest magic power spot, that being the case both my house and I were summoned to another world by some guys who were aiming for it. However, I’ve been living in this place for many years and my body is, apparently, abnormally overflowing with magic. Due to some unforeseen circumstances by those guys who summoned me, they quickly ran away….
Plot: The plot is really quite bland, which is made worse by the fact that the main character Daichi is a lazy ass bum. He wants nothing more than to sleep and that’s his driving goal in life.
Characters: Other than Daichi, who like I said above is very much a lazy bum and incredibly one dimensional, the rest of the cast is pretty okay. However due to how freaking dense the guy is, it makes only for a frustrating experience.
Overall: Skip this series, it’s really not that great.
For those who like: Fantasy, Isekai, Overpowered Protagonists, Lazy Protagonists.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, or bland Plots.
Hey all I’m back for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday with another Isekai series. It’s Magic Craft Meiser Chapters 1-26 by Aki Gitsune!
Plot Synopsis: There is only one Magi Craft Meister in the world. After the death of the last Meister over one thousand years ago, Nidou Jin was transported to another world in order to succeed her will. After obtaining the knowledge of the Magi Craft Meister, Jin attempts to use a warp gate but it malfunctions, transporting him to an unknown place….
Plot: The plot is mediocre at best, and honestly not that appealing. It’s a Slice of Series that screams for a more interesting main character along with a more interesting cast.
Characters: The entire cast is pretty lackluster, Jin is incredibly bland and none of the other characters are much better. Reiko might have been interesting, but frankly she gets pretty much no screen time in this arc.
Overall: A skippable series, you aren’t missing anything of note.
For those who like: Fantasy, Isekai, Magic, Crafter Protagonists.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, or bland Plot and even blander Cast of Characters.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the second arc in Ichinojo’s adventures. It’s Growth Cheat Chapters 32-53 by Yousuke Tokino!
Plot Synopsis: I, Ichinosuke, failed to get a job for 100 consecutive times. Furthermore, my record is still being updated as unemployed. On my way to a job interview, I was involved in an accident with a truck and tragically passed away. And then, a pair of Goddesses bestowed upon me the ability to grow at a speed 400 times faster than normal, before sending me to a game-like otherworld. However, knowing that I would not become stronger even if I continued growing while jobless, I aimed to get a job, but I found out that it was my terrible fate to remain jobless….
Plot: It’s an okay arc, though the peak of the arc is due more to a certain pair of idiots more than anything of Ichinojo’s doing.
Characters: We get introduced to a few new characters, but my favorite might be Centaur. Scratch that, it is definitely Centaur.
Overall: A fun set of chapters.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the second set of chapters in Wend’s new life. It’s Hachinan tte Chapters 12-22 by Fuzi Choco!
Plot Synopsis: Ichinomiya Shingo, a young 25 years old, single, worker of firm company while thinking of tomorrow’s busy working day goes to sleep. However, the moment he woke up, it was inside a room unknown to him. He then learned that he took over the mind of Wendelin a 6 years-old child, remembering a lot from the memories of the said boy: he was born as the youngest (8th son and 10th child) in a of poor noble family living in back country. Having no administrative skill, he can’t do anything to manage the vast land his family has. Fortunately, he is blessed with the very rare talent of magic.
Plot: The plot is okay, but honestly it’s pretty standard for a Tensei series. The plot pacing is also fairly slow, so those who enjoy fast plots won’t enjoy this set of chapters at all.
Characters: We don’t get to meet a bunch of new characters, but we do get a few like Amalie and Klaus. Honestly though it’s mainly focused on Wend.
Overall: An okay, but not amazing set of chapters.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with another series I have yet to cover. It’s Growth Cheat Chapters 0-31 by Yousuke Tokino!
Plot Synopsis: I, Ichinosuke, failed to get a job for 100 consecutive times. Furthermore, my record is still being updated as unemployed. On my way to a job interview, I was involved in an accident with a truck and tragically passed away. And then, a Goddess bestowed upon me the ability to grow at a speed 400 times faster than normal, before sending me to a game-like otherworld. However, knowing that I would not become stronger even if I continued growing while jobless, I aimed to get a job, but I found out that it was my terrible fate to remain jobless…
Plot: The plot is pretty funny in that the main character absolutely hates being Jobless, but somehow ends up keeping it. As for the reason why I’ll leave that to you to find out.
Characters: The entire cast is okay, but my favorites are probably Jofre and Elise because they’re absolutely stupid beyond belief. Hilariously so. Ichinojo is also interesting, but honestly Jofre and Elise just take the cake.
Overall: A fun, but somewhat predictable series. Amusing nonetheless it’s good for a few laughs.
For those who like: Isekai, Overpowered Heroes, Fantasy, Magic, Hilarious Cast of Characters.
Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
