This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with another set of chapters in Chen Xi’s adventures. It’s Talisman Emperor Chapters 41-80 by Xiao Jinyu!
Plot Synopsis: Chen Xi was a jinx who radiated misfortune the way a torch radiated light, and everyone around him knew it. His entire clan was annihilated when he was young, and not too long after that his parents disappeared. His marriage contract? Poof. Torn to shreds and gone up in smoke before the eyes of everyone in the city, almost humiliating his grandfather to the point of suicide! Cultivation? No time for that, he had a family to take care of! This is the story of Chen Xi, a youth forced to stop cultivating and instead craft talismans to pay for his younger brother’s tuition… and who, in the process, would rise to become known by all as the Talisman Emperor….
Plot: The plot of this second set of chapters is pretty good, and really quite fast paced. It moves us along the plot and finally gets us out of Chen Xi’s hometown. I won’t say more than that because it’d be spoilers, and you know my policy on those.
Characters: We get to meet quite a few new characters, but my favorite is probably Du Qingxi. Probably because she isn’t a giant bitch.
Overall: A good set of chapters. If you’ve enjoyed the novel thus far, you’ll probably still be enjoying it.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the fifth set of chapters in Wu Xie’s adventures. It’s Genius Doctor: Black Belly Miss Chapters 161-200 by North Night!
Plot Synopsis: Having finally started her plan in motion to remove the threat the Emperor of her homeland posed to her family and subordinantes Jun Wu Xie is now dealing with the Emperor, the Second Prince and Bai Yunxian. But the threat of the Qing Yun Clan looms over her head and with it the storm is only starting to coalesce….
Plot: This is a rather fun set of chapters. It’s fast paced and quite a thrill to read, especially for those with quick wits.
Characters: If it wasn’t obvious by now, Wu Xie is truly apathetic to anyone that she doesn’t care about. Not that I dislike that fact, I can empathize with it quite a bit myself. . While Jun Wu Yao isn’t a big part of it, his presence is always entertaining…
Overall: A great set of chapters. If you aren’t reading this series already you ought to be.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the fourth set of chapters in Jun Wu Xie’s adventures. It’s Genius Doctor: Black Belly Miss Chapters 121-160 by North Night!
Plot Synopsis: Having started her quest to redeem her and her families fame, Jun Wu Xie now is at the palace with the high official’s at sword point. However the Emperor has just arrived on the scene and the Second Prince came along as well. However can he stop Wu Xie now that she’s determined to raise her familie’s fame and reputation?
Plot: This is a really fun set of chapters, where the title becomes even more self evident if you didn’t pick up on that already. And by fun I mean Wu Xie has absolute control over the entire situation and acts and looks like the badass she really is.
Characters: We get a couple new faces, but really the star of this set of chapters is Wu Xie. Honestly she’s probably one of my favorite female leads out there just because she’s absolutely resolute in her desires.
Overall: A very fun and solid set of chapters that showcase the best of this series.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering the end of Crockta’s adventures. It’s Praise the Orc Final Chapters by Lee Jungmin!
Plot Synopsis: Having decided to fight against the gods and stop the bloodshed between players and actual people who they think of as only NPCs Crockta has fully immersed himself into Elder Lord. Will he be able to end this war in a good way for both planets or will he die as Crockta the Orc Warrior?
Plot: These final set of chapters are pretty good, and while the ending is perfect it is still enjoyable. Thankfully there is a couple extra chapters that take place after the main story, although not all of them have been translated yet.
Characters: We’ve met the vast majority of the cast by now, with only a couple minor additions being added. Tiyo is still my favorite character though after Crockta.
Overall: A great series, if you hadn’t started reading it already I suggest you do so.
That’s it for this week’s Translation Necessary Thursday. It’s also my first fully covered story for this column!
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back to covering Jun Wu Xie’s rise from infamy. It’s Genius Doctor: Black Belly Miss Chapters 81-120 by North Night!
Plot Synopsis: Having awakened her contractual spirit Little Lotus, Wu Xie is now concerned with protecting the dignity of the Lin Palace her family rules over. And all the time Jun Wu Yao is always to the side watching his little “sister”…
Plot: This set of chapters is probably where the story really takes off. It’s really awesome seeing Wu Xie being absolutely badass, and while I won’t say more than that it was highly satisfying to read.
Characters: We get to know more about Wu Xie and her family in this set of chapters, but we also get to learn a bit more about Wu Xie and her past life. There are a couple new characters, but overall it’s mostly familiar faces for this set of chapters.
Overall: A highly entertaining set of chapters that really lay down the foundation for the rest of the story. If you aren’t reading already, you ought to be.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’ve got the penultimate set of chapters in Crockta’s journey. It’s Praise the Orc Chapters 160-190 by Lee Jungmin!
Plot Synopsis: Having returned from the North a victor and even more famous, Crockta now is on a journey to stop the atrocities that his fellow players are committing, while not even knowing the truth behind Elder Lord. His quest for answers has given him some that he didn’t even think was possible, but now that he has them he knows what he must do.
Plot: This is a really solid set of chapters and while it’s not the climax of the story, it does set up the events leading to that. I won’t spoil anything else, frankly I feel like I already have said too much.
Characters: We get a few new faces, but mostly it’s old familiar faces we are dealing with. Tiyo and Crockta are still my two favorite characters, and these chapters just cement that opinion I have.
Overall: This is a series that’s worth reading, while not being absolutely spectacular it’s pretty darn good.
This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering a new series. It’s Talisman Emperor Chapters 1-40 by Xiao Jinyu!
Plot Synopsis: Chen Xi was a jinx who radiated misfortune the way a torch radiated light, and everyone around him knew it. His entire clan was annihilated when he was a baby, and not too long after that his parents disappeared. His marriage contract? Poof. Torn to shreds and gone up in smoke before the eyes of everyone in the city, almost humiliating his grandfather to the point of suicide! Cultivation? No time for that, he had a family to take care of! This is the story of Chen Xi, a youth forced to stop cultivating and instead craft talismans to pay for his younger brother’s tuition…
Plot: This is a pretty fast paced novel and these first forty chapters are really quite entertaining. Chen Xi is a pretty unlucky fellow and doesn’t fall into the traps that some characters have in other series, “cough” Linley “cough”. This is quite a fun series and frankly one of the better ones out there. It also helps that isn’t published by Qidian which means no bullshit on the publishers side.
Characters: The entire cast is great, although my favorite might just be Du Qingxi.
Overall: A great series to read, although few chapters have been released thus far, only a bit over 240.
