TNT: Tsuyokute New Saga Volume 01 by Abe Masayuki

tsuyokute

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering a series with a unique twist! It’s Tsuyokute New Saga Volume 01 by Abe Masayuki!

Plot Synopsis: To counter the unstoppable march of the demon army, the human empire sent a suicide squad deep into enemy’s territory to assasinate the Demon king. After a fierce and dangerous battle, Magic swordsman Kail finally managed to kill him. On the verge of death, Kail saw a curious relic which was in the possession of the Demon Lord. The relic sent him to the past before the invasion happened.

Plot: So yea this is essentially a novel where a New Game + occurs, but the main character is totally aware of what happens! The premise is awesome and I love the way the author pulls it off. It’s wonderfully done.

Characters: Kail has all his previous memories so when he see’s his childhood sweetheart and best friend it’s quite a shock to him. Said sweetheart and best friend are amazing characters in their own right, with Lize being an awesome brawler and Seran being a playboy swordsman. The rest of the cast is awesome, but since it’s just the first volume we don’t get to meet much of them!

Art: The artwork is pretty awesome, hopefully this series will get an Anime adaptation that isn’t total crap in the near future!

Overall: If you love fantasy or you are a gamer and love reading, you need to read this series.

For those who like: Gaming, Speedrunning in Gaming, Action, Fantasy, Harem, Romance, Amazing Cast of Characters, Excellent Plot, Fantastic Artwork.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, but how can you hate all that?

TNT: Rakudai Kishi no Chivalry Volume 01 by Riku Misora

rakudai_vol_01

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering one of my absolute favorite Light Novel series! It’s Rakudai Kishi no Chivalry Volume 01 by Riku Misora!

Plot Synopsis: In a time and place where one’s soul can be morphed into a weapon, there are modern-day magicians called mage-knights. Although Ikki Kurogane is a student at an institution that trains mage-knights, he has no particular talent in magic and is labeled the “Failed Knight” or “Worst One.” Getting way less than average marks in the scorings, he was forced to repeat a year. But with the arrival of a new head of the institution, a new rule was created: knights whose abilities are compatible, as decided by the board, must share rooms and attend practice and training together throughout their school years to bring up their abilities to the max. It was a rule to implement the absolute verdict of ability.

Plot: The plot of this series isn’t like other “Magical Academy series”. It may start off similarly, but by the end of the first volume it turns everything on it’s head. There is a particular reason why I love this series for it’s romance and that’s because it has absolutely no bullshit like nearly all Romantic Comedies seem to do these days. There is very little comedy in this volume and in this series. It makes everything very fresh feeling, at least for me.

Characters: I love the entire main cast of characters, but Ikki and Stella are easily my favorite. I love them as leads and I wish more romance series took a note from this series rather than going the romantic comedy route. Alice is also fairly amusing, and Shizuku isn’t bad, although I didn’t enjoy her at first.

Art: The art for this series is amazing, and I love all the illustrations!

Overall: If you want a real romance series, you need to read this first volume.

For those who like: Romance with no bullshit, Action and lots of it, Excellent and Serious Plot, Fantastic Cast of Characters, Amazing Artwork.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.

TNT: CtG—Zero Kara Sodateru Dennou Shoujo Volume 01 by Gangudou

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering a new series that I read the first volume of a couple days ago. It’s all about TNT: CtG—Zero Kara Sodateru Dennou Shoujo, or CtG Raising from Zero a Digital Girl in English roughly, Volume 01 by Gangudou!

Plot Synopsis: In VRMMO -CtG- (Cradle to the Glaive), Kasugai Yuu has <married> Mifa, a girl he just met. After that, their daughter Haruha was born and grown!? Moreover…

“I’ve come, daddy!”

“K-Kugimiya!”

In the real world, the real Haruha, along with the real Mifa – Kugimiya Miharu – suddenly appeared!

Plot: The plot is very good, and while it’s not an entirely new premise, it is nonetheless an incredibly heartwarming series. I loved this first volume so much that I didn’t even put the book down until I was done after I started reading.

Characters: Yuu and Miharu are amazingly well done leads and while their romance is obvious to pretty much anyone else other than them, it doesn’t mean you don’t root for them while reading this volume. Haruha is also pretty freaking awesome, in her own ways. I’ll leave it at that concerning her, but the rest of the cast is equally as good.

Art: The artwork in this series is pretty great, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this get an Anime adaptation in a year or two.

Overall: This isn’t a must read, but if you feel at all depressed or down emotionally this will lift your spirits right back up. If you enjoy romance as well, this will be good a read.

For those who like: Action, Romance, Drama, Tough Questions, Amazing Cast of Characters, Fantastic Plot, Excellent Art.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above, but how can you hate all that?

TNT: Sendai Yuusha wa Inkyou Shitai Volume 01 by Iida K

sendai

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m covering a new series I read recently. It’s Sendai Yuusha wa Inkyou Shitai, or The Previous Hero Wants to Retire in English, Volume 01 by Iida K!

Plot Synopsis:Three years ago, in the land of Reinbulk, a Legendary Hero was summoned in the Kindom of Leezalion and he succeeded in repelling the Demon King. Now, five students are summoned back into Reinbulk by the Kingdom of Luxeria to fight against the Demon King and the demon army. Unlike the other heroes, Yashiro Yuu has no magical affinity and the Luxeria Kingdom has no intention on acknowledging his existence or returning him to his world. However, Yuu is actually the previous Hero that had fought the Demon King.

Plot: The plot is quite good, and I enjoy these Parallel World stories quite a bit, but this one has an excellent twist and plot hook. I really do enjoy this series so I’m hoping it continues to get translated quickly.

Characters: Yuu is hilariously perverted, but he’s also earnest and that earns him the respect of various figures including royalty and highly respected mages. The rest of the cast is quite good as well, but Yuu is easily my favorite because he’s such a nerd and occasionally comically delusional.

Art: I read the web novel translation, but this is also a Light Novel series so they included the images from the Light Novel which was quite well done. Nothing like No Game No Life, but still very good.

Overall: This is worth the time to read, although only one volume has been fully translated.

For those who like: Parallel Worlds, Magic, Fantasy, Action, Drama, Comedy.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.
