TNT: Weakness of Beatrice Volume 01 by Kamachi Kazuma

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with a fairly odd series. It’s Weakness of Beatrice Volume 01 by Kamachi Kazuma!

Plot: This series is Kamachi Kazuma’s take on the Isekai and LitRPG genre and it features his usual oddball storylines. While there is much more fluff than usual in his other stories it’s still got a really off the wall odd plot. Frankly I’ll admit it went over my head but that might have been because I read this when I was sick about a year ago. So take my reluctance with a grain of salt. That being said if you don’t like any of his other works, Beatrice’s story will not appeal to you either.

Characters: Beatrice and Boo-Boo are our two main characters and they are about as different as you can be, one’s a highly intelligent beautiful young woman and the other is a literal ogre. The fact that they are romantically involved with the other is just the icing on the oddball cake. The rest of the cast is just as odd as the our two leads.

Overall: A fun, but possibly confusing story with fluff and the usual Kamachi oddball plots of world domination.

For those who like: Isekai, LitRPGs, Fluff, Romance, Really Odd Plot, Even Odder Cast of Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.

TNT: Bu ni Mi Volume 01 by Akashi Kakkaku

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with another web novel series I read a few years back. It’s Bu ni Mi Volume 01 by Akashi Kakkaku!

Plot: This is a mix between the typical reincarnation genre from Japan and the more martial arts oriented Wuxia genre from China. It’s actually quite a good plot, guy dies of old age with two regrets, he didn’t master his martial arts and he didn’t get to see his adopted daughter and disciple, an elf girl, grow up to be happy. Then he gets reborn as an elf, and learns he’s now posthumously famous because his “daughter” is a bad ass who took his teachings and became a world wide hero.

Characters: Slava is our main character and is pretty decent, although he is a battle maniac so take that into consideration. The rest of the cast is okay, but it mainly revolves around Slava, Sheryl and Alma in this first volume.

Overall: This is a fun series that mixes two of my favorite genres in fiction and does a pretty decent job of it.

For those who like: Tensei, Wuxia, Martial Arts, Action, Decent Cast of Characters.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.

TNT: Green Skin Volume 01 by Dirt Spoon

Hey all I’m back with another Korean novel series. It’s Green Skin Volume 01 by Dirt Spoon!

Plot: The plot is pretty typical, and though there are some good points this is one of those novels that you will either love or hate. There’s very little middle ground to be had here.

Characters: Our main character is Blood Dagger, and yes that’s his name. He’s a pretty poor main character, honestly he doesn’t have a great personality and is pretty unlikable. That said the reasons behind are somewhat valid, was murdered and reincarnated into a goblin of all things, but still it’s annoying to hear him constantly mutter to himself or press himself to become stronger after he was such a weak warrior before.

Overall: An okay series, if you liked other monster hero stories, you’ll probably enjoy this one. Otherwise you might be best just steering clear of this one.

For those who like: LitRPGs, Drama, Action, Reincarnation, Monster Protagonists.

Not for those who don’t like: Any of the above.

Serial Saturday: Dao of Magic Chapters 61-80 by Andries Louws

Hey all I’m back with the fourth set of chapters in Teach’s journey in a really odd world for this week’s Serial Saturday. It’s Dao of Magic Chapters 61-80 by Andries Louws!

Plot: This covers the start of the second arc and it’s pretty good, Teach deals with some oddballs and some jerks in this set of chapters, while we also get to see the Disciples really cause some havoc.

Characters: We get some new characters in this chapter, but my favorite newcomer is probably Ares. I won’t say why, but she’s pretty hilarious. That said Rhea has easily grown to replace Tess as my favorite character thus far. The fact she’s a giant freaking dragon is just icing on the cake.

Overall: A really fun and chaotic set of chapters.

TNT: The Bears Bear a Bare Kuma Chapters 127-151 by Kumanano

This week for Translation Necessary Thursday I’m back with the sixth set of chapters in Yuna’s adventures. It’s The Bears Bear a Bare Kuma Chapters 127-151 by Kumanano!

Plot: This arc is pretty awesome, it deals with Yuna and her exploring more of the world and acquiring a Mithril knife for Fina. It’s a pretty fun set of chapters and actually deals with a loose plot thread that was mentioned in the very first chapter.

Characters: We get to meet some new characters although they aren’t that interesting sadly. That being said Yuna still is my favorite character in the series and she kicks a lot of ass in this arc.

Overall: A great set of chapters, and a fun story arc.
